Part 1. EduardVS
Alpha 2 is nearing its end and we are seeing some interesting developments. Players are using complex strategies, engaging in political maneuvering, and finding creative ways to utilize their game assets. To learn more about the game from a player’s perspective, we held an interview contest and asked participants to share their personal experiences. In this article, we will feature the interview with our first contest winner EduardVS.
Please, introduce yourself.
EduardVS
Which faction are you playing for in Alpha 2? Please tell us about its advantages and disadvantages.
Warrior.
Which buildings do you construct and upgrade first?
Mines, always mines!
What is your step-by-step strategy during the game?
Build and build fast! Try to stay on the down low and not draw too much attention. Make sure something is always being built with your builders and troops are always being made if you can.
What I build at first isn’t what I keep in the end when my base is maxed. I go from resource hoarding to troop hoarding. All of my bases are self-sustaining and not specialized. I try to keep bases close so I can share resources amongst them all.
How many Starter packs have you used during Alpha 2, and which asset from the pack is your favorite?
I lost track.
Do you have any secret tricks that you use to solve some gameplay matters in a nonstandard way?
Try to buy up resource NFTs during the low price fluctuations, which are usually later in the server time. Then start the game stacked because those 5k packs are the best early on to rush and get a fast head start. I might even sell some at a higher cost to cover the purchases.
Has the game ever kept you from getting a restful sleep? Why and what happened that night?
Any time you get attacked, it’s quite unnerving because you never know if it’s a real attack or a fake one. In Alpha2, my late nights are usually because I’m checking on troops continuously being built. Sometimes I stay up to see the attack or defensive reports coming in.
If you belong to any alliance, how are the roles and tasks divided among the players?
We have Leaders who provide guidance on targets and defenses. They do a lot of the political work as well. Everyone else chips in on Def or Attacks when and where they can.
Name a few specific situations in which one faction’s troops would perform better than the troops of others.
Warriors Longs are Beastly on offense but like glass on defense. Alphas are the best offense in the game, but they cost a lot to make and maintain. So you have to make decisions early that will affect your outcome later. Amassing an army of Mantis vs Longs has a lot of factors to consider. How fast you make them, cost, maintenance, offense, defense, speed.
Do you use any outside assets entered into the game to resolve some problems or increase productivity?
I have enough lands to cover all 10 bases which you would need at least 30. I try to balance the 4 different resource types and have them leveled decently. Even a common that’s not leveled gives a 5% bonus. Level 100 isn’t too hard to get a land to which gives 15% and adds up. I keep an eye on lands for sale and have found great deals at times.
Please recall the most massive or sophisticated attack operation you took part in and tell us a few words about it.
There was a hit on a few specific players that we all coordinated attacks on their alliance with so they wouldn’t know the true target. You try not to be predictable and keep the enemy guessing on who is attacking who.
Please tell us about the most massive attack operation aimed at your bases. How was it?
This round I’ve managed to dodge being a primary target. But, when I did receive attacks, I recalled troops defending other bases just to be safe. I got reinforced so much that I had to pump Wecanite to a few bases so my troops wouldn’t die.
Do you destroy buildings if you need additional foundations? If so, which buildings do you destroy first?
Yes! Some buildings aren’t as useful after you max them out. Academy and Ammunition Center are two that go once I have everything I need. But, I have had to rebuild them to create more military buildings later, so be careful not to destroy them if they are required for other buildings you still need.
What is the best way to organize an attack aimed at destroying the base?
If attacking solo, make sure you have enough troops to kill the defense, enough Rams to take out the shield, and enough artillery to finish the job.
If attacking with your alliance, try to time your hits to land close to the same time as possible.
What is the best way to organize an attack aimed at capturing the base?
If solo, having it close enough to make fast attacks to take down the protection level before the enemy can restore it. It also helps to have multiple Hackers land at once from your bases.
If teaming a spot, coordinating the timing of when everyones’ hackers will land, and making sure whoever wants the base lands last.
Which skills would you recommend training on the playground servers?
Understanding the buildings and what each one is used for. Try out the various base options with the different mineral options at the bases and see what works best. Build a few bases to the max levels using different approaches as to what you build to see what’s the fastest or most productive.
Name three features that you would like to see in the game, currently undeveloped ones.
- Better ability to read the attack and defense reports.
- The use of the Hero and how that will change the gameplay dynamics.
- A better way to swap resources as Alpha 2 trading has had a lot fewer interactions for me. Maybe have an exchange system where you turn in X resources to get one you need, maybe cap it daily to guard against abuse and cap the amount by level. So a base with a droid count of 100 can only do x amount vs a level 1000 droid count base that can do x more.
