Part5. Expansion of your bases network
Current settings and naming could be changed in the future if needed.
A large-scale network of bases makes you more resistant to the enemy’s attack, allows you to mine more minerals, support a bigger army, and attack from a few places at once. The maximum number of bases you can create or capture from your initial base is two. However, if this won’t be enough for you, you can establish more, using units from your new bases.
How to get more bases under your management
There are two ways to expand your base network. You can either establish a new base on the free plot you chose on the map or capture someone else’s base.
- For both of them, you need to have an Expansion Hub on your base.
- With an Expansion Hub at level 10, you can make one settler or hacker.
- With an Expansion Hub at level 20, you can make two settlers or hackers.
- From one base, you can settle or capture only two more bases.
- Yet you can establish more bases from your new bases.
How to settle the base?
Create a unit of settler bots. Send your settler to any unoccupied plot. If he is the first, you will get another base under your management and will be able to develop it. In case of successful settling, the settler will die, if unsuccessful the settler will return and you may try again on a different location.
How to capture the base?
Create a unit of hacker bots. Send your hackers and the rest of your army on the battle mission. It would be wise to send a spy ahead so you would have the necessary info to plan a compelling attack.
The hackers attack as a part of your troops; if they survive the battle, they cause damage to the base’s protection. One hacker can cut 19 points from the base protection total (100pts) at the current settings.
So, a base can not be captured with a one-time attack. To capture the base, you’ll have to come back a few times to decrease the base’s defenses to 0. Keep in mind, if the enemy has built a Datacenter, it will keep replenishing the base’s protection level.
And do not forget to destroy the base’s Expansion Hub as well. It is necessary to complete the hostile takeover.
When a base’s protection goes down to zero and its Expansion Hub has been destroyed, the base is now yours. As a result of the hostile takeover, the level of all its buildings will go down 1 point.
